Country house Jan Kok on Curacao is named after the brutal 18th-century slave master Jan Kok. According to many people, the evil spirit of its slave master is still present in the Curacao villa.
Country house Jan Kok is one of the oldest houses on Curacao. The mansion was replaced in 1840 for the one that was built in the early 18th century. Around 1860 there were still 100 slaves on the plantation house Jan Kok. The country house Jan Kok on Curacao is 345 acres and was build on a salt farm where crops could be found. On the plantation was also done to livestock.
The central part of the colonial Jan Kok villa on Curacao has a gable roof and the house limits several adjacent buildings. The old slave bell has been preserved and is still hanging on the southern terrace of country house. From the terrace you can look over the salt pans of the St. Marie Bay and you have a beautiful view of Curacao.
